What Are The Benefits Of Dandelion Tea?

wellness collection tea, herbal wellness tea, wellness herbal tea

You probably remember playing with blooming dandelions when you were little and making wishes before blowing their tufts. And maybe when you grew up, your love for them disappeared, and you started to consider them an annoyance, since they're everywhere.

But what if we told you that dandelions carry amazing health benefits?

So, what is a Dandelion?

The dandelion (taraxacum officinale) is part of the Asteraceae family and is considered by many to be a pesky weed that can be found everywhere there is at least a tiny bit of ground. But besides being a nuisance, it's also packed with vitamins and minerals, making it great for your health. Dandelion roots, leaves, and seeds also have medicinal properties and are used in many tea blends.

Dandelion:

Works as a Natural Immune System Booster.

If anything, the last year and a half has taught us the importance of a healthy immune system. Fortunately, dandelion contains antimicrobial and antiviral properties and can protect us against harmful bacteria.

Aids Digestion.

You know that feeling after you’ve eaten a hearty meal? It feels great until your stomach starts voicing its complaints, right? Drinking dandelion tea stimulates the digestive juices, calms down your stomach, and can even treat constipation.

Is Full of Antioxidants.

Dandelions are rich in antioxidants - beta-carotene and polyphenolic compounds, to be precise. These antioxidants provide a strong defense against cellular damage, aging, and various diseases.

Reduces Water Retention.

Another benefit of dandelion tea is that it can speed up your efforts to drop a few pounds. For instance, the potassium in dandelion can act as a diuretic and increase your daily urine output. This leads to a decrease in water weight, which may be helpful if you're feeling bloated or retaining water.

Helps PMS.

Since it’s a natural diuretic and relieves bloating and swelling, drinking tea that includes dandelion especially helps when that time of the month is nearing. Instead of preparing to feel cranky, tender, and bloated for the next week, dandelion can help us get rid of unwanted excess fluids.

How to Brew It

Convinced that this unremarkable flower holds mighty health benefits? Then perhaps you would like a nice cup of dandelion tea.

Since all parts of the dandelion are equally beneficial, you can brew your own tea from the flowers, leaves, and roots. But if you don’t feel like collecting dandelions on your lunch break, our tea blend, Womb Ritual, includes dandelion along with other mighty ingredients that help alleviate PMS symptoms, strengthen the uterine wall, and ensure your womb stays healthy! If you’re looking for a tea blend to help with toxin elimination, craving reduction, and digestion, our tea blend, Spice Revival, is right up your alley.

For the best cup:

1 | Boil water to 210-212°F.

2 | Add a scoop of the tea blend to your cup and cover it with boiling water.

3 | Gently stir and let it steep for 3-4 minutes minimum, or more if you like your tea stronger. For a medicinal brew, steep for 15 minutes minimum. Remember, the longer the steep time, the stronger the brew.

4 | Add honey or your preferred sweetener (if you want), and enjoy!

I encourage you to have fun with various herb combinations. The possibilities are endless!
